Luz Gutierrez
Principal
Mrs. Luz Gutierrez is a passionate educator whose dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to lifelong learning have shaped her remarkable 10-year journey within the Voices Network. Throughout her career, she has served in multiple roles with purpose and heart, gaining a deep, firsthand understanding of what students need to truly thrive in a dual immersion environment. She leads with humility and integrity, grounded in a profound knowledge of bilingual education, and inspires both staff and students through authentic relationships, intentional professional development, data analysis, and systematic strategies that empower learners to take ownership of their growth.
Raised as a bilingual speaker in San Jose, Mrs. Gutierrez’s personal experiences fueled her calling to education. Her path reflects perseverance and service—beginning as a paraprofessional and progressing through roles as an associate teacher, teacher of record, reading interventionist, instructional coach, and, most recently, a network lead. She earned a double bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science and Psychology from San Jose State University and later completed a master’s degree in Teaching and Bilingual Education from Santa Clara University. She has continued her learning, fine-tuning her leadership skills through various fellowships and leadership training opportunities.
Mrs. Gutierrez continues to live in San Jose with her husband and daughter, where her roots, values, and vision for equitable, bilingual education continue to guide her work and inspire the community she serves. In her spare time, she loves to travel to different places in the world and surround herself with nature, family, and friends.
