San Jose, CA- Voices College-Bound Language Academies has been recognized by Innovate Public Schools as being a top Bay Area public school network for underserved students. Voices Morgan Hill, Voices Mount Pleasant, and Voices Franklin-McKinley have been awarded this prestigious distinction for 2020.

Each year, Innovate Public Schools celebrates Bay Area public schools achieving exemplary results for low-income Latino and low-income African American students. For schools to qualify for this award, they must surpass the statewide average in one or more factors including math or reading scores while maintaining low suspension rates.

In the Bay Area, the odds are low that low-income Latino students get to attend a school that truly unlocks future opportunities. Voices Academies was founded by a determined Latina teacher, Frances Teso, who was once an English Learner herself, to help Latino and low-income students recognize their own potential while narrowing the achievement gap, and sustaining a joyful culture of learning.

“Voices Academies is honored to be recognized by Innovate for our students’ continued success and proven results, as we are proud to have received several Innovate acknowledgments over the last several years. As a Latina who experienced an education that failed to prepare me for college, I am committed to making a difference in the educational trajectories of underserved students in the Bay Area,” says Ms. Teso.

About The Voices College-Bound Language Academies Network

Voices College-Bound Language Academies Network has three schools in Santa Clara County and one school in Contra Costa County. The network has been approved for the opening of a fifth and sixth school in Stockton at the beginning of August 2020. Voices’ mission is to prepare all students for the challenges of higher education through the context of an academically rigorous dual-language program.

In addition, we ensure students demonstrate high academic achievement and apply critical thinking skills while making sense of their role within their own culture and the greater society. Serving roughly 98% Latinos and many students from low-income communities, Voices’ students are closing the achievement gap.
