Leadership

I was born in Hayward, California and at age two, my family moved to the Central Valley. Reflecting on my Chicano experience throughout the traditional K-12 school systems, I was not successful because my cultural reality and personal attributes were not respected nor valued. Fortunately, a few Latino educators saw the potential in my humanity and had the courage to invest their energy in me, which sparked my journey into a love of learning and knowledge of self. As a result, I have over 16 years of experience in dual language immersion and social justice education. My passion is steadfast in empowering students through a pedagogy of love and hope, to advocate for families, and to learn in solidarity with the community I serve. I believe that Voices will allow me as principal to continue on this amazing journey, and I happily look forward to becoming a part of this powerful community that is being cultivated by all who serve in their own unique way. In addition to the professional struggle, I thrive in my greatest accomplishment and joy in life, my family. Alongside my wife Araceli, we have been blessed with two boys Adriel (12) and Leonel (16). My hobbies are playing sports and watching our sons play soccer. Leonel, Simba (pet dog), and I also run together to compete in races (5k, half and full marathons).
