Voices College-Bound Language Academies will prepare all students for the challenges of higher education through the context of an academically rigorous dual-language program. In addition, we will ensure students demonstrate high academic achievement and apply critical thinking skills while making sense of their role within their own culture and the greater society.

Hugo Torres
Principal
As a first-generation Latino and child of immigrants, Mr. Torres grew up with a sense of privilege and responsibility, which led to his work in the education and nonprofit sectors. He has a successful track record of redesigning and transforming schools and programs to better meet the needs of the students, families, and communities.
Mr. Torres graduated from Dominican University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies with a minor in Business Administration and a K-9 certification in Education with endorsements in language arts, social studies, and mathematics. Mr. Torres also received his Master’s in Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated with straight A’s, was inducted into four honor societies, and was the recipient of the 2023 Archbishop Oscar Romero Award. In the near future, Mr. Torres will be pursuing his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Torres has concluded his six-year work at the Saint Francis Center of Redwood City, where he served as the Programs Manager for the St. Francis Center, Educator and Assistant Principal for Holy Family School, and Program Director for the Siena Youth Center. Prior to moving to the Bay Area, he was involved with various nonprofit organizations in the suburbs of Chicago.
Currently, Mr. Torres serves as a Trustee for the San Mateo County Board of Education, where he represents Area 7 and serves on the workforce housing subcommittee aimed to create affordable housing for teachers. He is one of the founders of the Latino Leaders Coalition of the Bay Area, and he joined the Board of Directors for the New Leaders Council of the Silicon Valley chapter as the Board of Operations.
