Elizabeth Aguilar
Ms. Aguilar provides oversight of and ensures consistency within the instructional model, curriculum, assessments, and professional development across the Voices Network. She has the pleasure to lead the Academic Team at the central office (Academic Team Z!). Ms. Aguilar came to Voices after receiving her bachelor’s degree at Stanford University and masters degree in teaching at the University of Southern California. She was a teacher at Voices for five years before becoming the school’s first full-time instructional coach. She has served as the Chief Academic Officer since August 2015. Ms. Aguilar was originally drawn to Voices in 2009 because she saw herself in the students – the daughter of Mexican immigrants and an English learner herself as a young girl – and she wanted to help these students realize they too could have great success in college and beyond. Ms. Aguilar is passionate about empowering Latino youth and families through education, language and cultural appreciation. She enjoys being on-the-ground at schools working closely with her Academic Team and school leaders during classroom walkthroughs. In her spare time, Ms. Aguilar loves to do arts and crafts, baking and play-time with her two young children. She also likes to dance, spend time with extended family and watch sports with her husband.
